TAX COLLECTION

TAX REMINDERS
Sue Haenel's office will be closed for the month of July.  You may still call her at 664-4703, and leave a message on her answering machine.  Appointments to see Sue may be scheduled in the month of July.

Sue again reminds everyone that if your mortgage company pays your property taxes, you must forward the tax bill to them.  If you need proof of payment for the rebate program, you must enclose both copies of the tax bill & a SASE (self-addressed stamped envelope) with your payment.

Any questions about the above reminders?  Please call Sue for more information 664-4703.

FOLLOW YOUR MONEY
The federal government is spending billions of your tax dollars in an effort to stimulate America's economy.  Federal lawmakers also provided billions of dollars to cash-strapped states across the country to fill mounting budget deficits.  This is your money and you have a right to know how it is being spent.

You can track the federal stimulus money by visiting www.Recovery.gov and the money $$ provided to Pennsylvania by visiting www.Recovery.PA.gov.

A FEW WORDS FROM YOUR TAX COLLECTOR...
To avoid delay in payment of your taxes, please check your mailing address.  Tax bills will NOT be forwarded by the post office.  Please also make sure you have your correct house number & street name filed with the Court House.  If you need a change card, please call and Sue can get one to you.

In July 2008, Gov. Ed Rendell signed into law a bill that takes earned-income tax collection out of the hands of local collectors.  Act 32 of 2008, previously known as Senate Bill 1063, establishes collection of the 1% wage tax at the county level as opposed to the current system of having the earned-income tax collected by local municipalities. The Department of Community & Economic Development will oversee the new system, which should be ready in 2011 and be fully implemented by January 1, 2012.
