TAX UPDATE FROM CURT SONNEY, STATE REPRESENTATIVE
Taxes were a key theme in Governor Tom Wolf's budget proposal.  He wants to reduce property taxes while increasing the sales & personal income taxes.

How does his plan impact your tax bill?  Please visit State Representative Sonney's website, RepSonney.com , and click on the "TaxpayersThatPay" banner.  You'll be able to find out how much in new personal income & sales taxes residents in each Pennsylvania school district will pay, and compare that figure to the amount proposed to go back to that district's taxpayers under Gov. Tom Wolf's property tax plan.

You will also be able to compare the school district in which you live to that of its Erie County counterparts. 

2015 TAX DUE DATES
The 2015 County-Township taxes are now due at face until June 30. A 10% penalty will be assessed beginning July 1 until the end of the year.  

TAX REMINDERS
* Your Tax Collector, Susan Haenel, again reminds everyone that if your mortgage company pays your property taxes you must forward the tax bill to them.  If you need proof of payment for the rebate program, you must enclose both copies of the tax bill & a SASE (self-addressed stamped envelope) with your payment. 

* Mobile home taxes stay with the mobile home. If you are planning to purchase a previously owned mobile home, check with Tax Claim to determine if there are any back taxes owed. If you fail to do this and purchase the home with back taxes, those taxes become your responsibility. The number for the Tax Claim Bureau is 814-451-6206.

* You must file a "Certificate of Residency" with your employer each January and any time you move.

* Please alert Sue before moving, whether it be within the township or out of the area.  She needs to know the date you'll be moving as well as where you'll be moving to. 

* If you wish to change a mailing address, you can either contact Erie County Assessment at 814-451-6225 or Susan Haenel and they will provide a Property Record Correction card to be completed and mailed to Assessment to change a mailing address.

Your Earned Income Taxes (EIT) will be collected by Berkheimer & Associates.  All Wayne Township Residents reside in Tax District #250106.

HOW THE EIT TAX SYSTEM HAS BEEN "STREAMLINED"
All Earned Income Tax Collection in Pennsylvania has transitioned to a county-wide collection system.  Erie County employers now remit quarterly employee payroll withholding to Berkheimer Associates in Erie, PA.

All residents will file their local tax returns with Berkheimer Associates by April 15th each year.  You can file online, print and download tax forms from Berkheimer's Website at www.berk-e.com.

The mailing address for Berkheimer is 3608 West 26th Street, Suite 202 (in the Millcreeek Township Building).

When you employer asks for this information, please be sure to indicate that your home municipality (where you live) is Wayne Township.  Your mailing address may be Corry, Wattsburg, or Union City, but you live in Wayne Township.  If your tax dollars$$ are incorrectly sent to another municipality, you will be financing their programs, roadways & utilities.  Please make sure that your tax dollars "come home" to benefit you and your family.
