SIMPLE WAYS TO LOWER YOUR HEATING BILL
Program & set your thermostat during the day, then set it at a lower temperature at night or while you are away.  By programming your thermostat's settings -- and lowering the temperature by 4 to 5 degrees -- you can reduce your heating bill by approximately 10%.

Set your water heater to a slightly lower temperature to further reduce your heating bill.  If you've got an older thermostat, have it serviced or change to a newer, digital model.  Digital thermostats are easier to use & read, plus allow you to program settings.

Before cranking up your heater, put on extra layers of clothing to save money on your monthly bill.  You can also save up to 5% just by checking the seals around your windows & doors.  The windows can be caulked and/or weather-stripped or look into replacing them with more energy-efficient choices.  Close blinds & curtains once the sun sets, to reduce heat from escaping.

These simple tips & tricks can help reduce your heating bill and prepare your home for future savings.

ATTENTION :: BEAVERDAM RESIDENTS
Northwestern Rural Electric Co-operative (REC) are conducting a 'test program' in Beaverdam.  The street lights were replaced with LED bulbs the week of August 15, 2011.  The bulbs are supposed to be more energy efficient & have a longer lifespan.
You may be receiving a Survey from REC, and we ask that you please respond to that survey in order to let them know your opinion about the new bulbs.  REC states that you will not see any rate changes during their test program time period.
